The area inhabited by Totorame, Xiximes and Cahitas tribes. Mazatlan grew rapidly as it was on the mining route between San Ignacio and Rosario villages.The city is now one of Mexico's most important tourist center due to the beauty of the oldest zone architecture as the grandiose "Angela Peralta Theater" built in 1869, "Edificio Juarez", "Casa Machado", "The Art School" and many elegant mansions all of which have been instrumental in the designation of "Viejo Mazatlan" as a Mexican National Heritage.

The warmth and friendliness of the people and the inspiring European architecture have enveloped many who are spellbound forever by this city of unparalleled charm.

Mazatlan means in the Nahuatl language "Land of the Deer" located in the Mexican State of Sinaloa well known in for being the "Bread basket of Mexico" the most important Latin America fruit and vegetable canneries are established in this rich agriculture zone.

Mazatlan is also visited for many cruise ships company due to so many interesting tourist spots the city offers as: The High Divers, The Mermaid and Cupid Monument, The Continuity of Life Monument, The Fishermen Monument, The Highest Natural Lighthouse in the World, The Shrimp Market, The biggest shrimp fleet in Mexico, La Marina and all the beautiful island that decorate the bay of Mazatlan. There are also dozens of villages nearby that can be visited in a day tour as: El Quelite, Copala, Concordia, El Rosario, La Noria, San Ignacio, Cosala, Teacapan, Escuinapa, Isla de la Piedra, Las Moras, La Vinata, El Habal, El Potrero de Carrasco, El Roble, Siqueros, El Wallamo, Villa Union, Malpica, Mesillas, etc.
